The Challenge
A major grocer faced new challenges in its bulk food departments due to hygiene-related concerns from customers and new guidelines from local and state officials. The grocer decided to evaluate the impact of remodels on its bulk departments. Research found that loose bulk food customers are some of the most valuable, spending double that of a typical shopper. It was vital for the grocer to complete department remodels, recover the lost sales revenue and attract these affluent shoppers with more appealing bulk solutions. It turned to Trade Fixtures to develop the proper solution.
The Solution
Trade Fixtures worked with the grocer to analyze layout designs to address the identified issues in the bulk departments. They found several of the bulk SKUs were “sticky” and had previously been limited to merchandising in scoop bins. The Result
The new display optimized the grocer’s space and created an easier and more hygienic shopping environment, which attracted more top-tier customers to shop bulk foods. The new display also resulted in a rapid increase in sales revenue.
