Design Services

I am opening up a retail store and was wondering if you can give us an idea what type of design you can recommend? Who can help me with deciding which bulk products to carry? What size bulk section should I have? How long to get this drawn, made, and shipped to me?

We don’t expect anyone to be able to sit and completely design their dream store. So, we offer in-house design services featuring initial consultation, layout, engineering and sales support. Your salesperson will be your point of contact for arranging any such services from concept design to project punch list. Call 1-800-872-3490 to get started on your project.

Products

What type of products will work in each bin?

The products you want to sell will vary by location, and some products will sell better than others given customer preferences and availability. We encourage you to visit with one of the many natural foods / candy / coffee and tea suppliers, who can help you with your bulk product selection. This quick reference guide to help you decide what type of bin you should select based on general product type. These are guidelines, not absolutes, based on our experience.

How long can the food stay in the bin before it becomes stale (i.e. are the bins air tight)?

We don’t sell bins as a storage unit. We sell bins as part of a fixture system to merchandise food. The bins have rubber, NSF certified, seals that help keep air out, and if you’re not turning your inventory once a month, bulk dispensing bins may not be the best merchandising method for you.

Where can I get instruction files for my products?

Visit our download section here.

Do you have replacement parts for your bins?

Yes, you can buy individual parts and pieces. Our only requirement is we have a $300 minimum, so keep that in mind when you order.

Can I use my own shelving for the bins, or do I have to buy your shelving as well? Do the bins hang on a wall?

Obviously, we test our shelving systems (fixtures) and know what the weight bearing capacities are for our products, but we also understand the economics and desire for you to use your own shelving system. That being said, if you use your own shelving system, each shelf span must support, without sagging, 25 lbs (11kg) for each 3 gallon bin, 45 lbs (20kg) for each 5 gallon bin, and 150 lbs (68kg) for the 12 gallon bin (90# (40kg) rated capacity). A 48” by 12” deep metal grocery gondola shelf is typically rated to hold 500 lbs, but check with the manufacturer. If you wall-mount a shelf, heavy duty brackets every 16” on center screwed to the shelf is required. If you design your own custom cabinets, contact our professional designer if you have any questions. Failure to follow these recommended guidelines could lead to serious injury, or even death.

Can the bins stack on top of one another?

No.

Do you have any different looking gravity bins than that which everyone carries?

Our bins have been the industry leader since 1982. In that time, numerous competitors, mainly former customers, have taken our bin and tried to copy its form and function. We do consider it a complement to our time and effort into perfecting the bulk merchandising standard. If you have ideas on how we could modify the look, or improve upon its design, feel free to contact us.

What is a case? How many bins will fit in a box? How much does each box weigh?

This will depend on the product.

Pricing and Taxes

I am interested in pricing on your bins. What are your prices? How can I get a cost estimate? I am in the process of writing my business plan and am very interested in your fixtures and was wondering if I could get some ballpark pricing figures?

Trade Fixtures does not post prices on our website, or in our literature. While this may be an inconvenience, it is necessary due to the fact that our goods are tied to the petrochemical and precious materials industries and supplier costs can fluctuate without notice. Another reason is due to the complexity of every project, it becomes harder to just throw a number at it. With so many options, it is best that you visit with our sales team who will be glad to assist you. If you want a ballpark figure for rough estimation, each 4 linear foot section of bulk will cost you between $2,500 and $4,000 depending on how it is configured.

Why do I have to pay sales tax?

Write to your local congressman to inquire. You might have better luck changing their minds than we have.
However, if you have a sales tax exempt certificate, we can set you up as tax exempt.

Warranty

Do you have a warranty? What is your warranty? What is the expected product longevity? Does it cover all products?

Trade Fixtures products are manufactured with pride and polycarbonate materials which are 35 times stronger than acrylics. We have existing customers that are still using their merchandising system in its original form that we sold to them over 15 years ago! That being said, we offer a warranty against workmanship and defects on our injection and blow molded bins, and their components sold to the buyer guaranteeing they are free from defects for a period of 2 years from the date of delivery of the products.

Shipping

How much lead time is there between order and ship or arrival? What are your shipping terms? Where do you ship from?

We ship daily from a variety of US locations to destinations worldwide. Our lead time on stock items is 3 to 5 days, and our lead time on custom items is 4 to 6 weeks from time payment is received.

Why can’t it ship today?

Stock items can ship same day but must be received by 10AM CST with a 10%, minimum $25 expedite fee.

How do I do a return?

Contact your salesperson to initiate the process.

Which shipping documents will you prepare for me?

Commercial invoice, Packing List, Inland Bill of Lading, and any other country specific custom documents to export your order.

Can I arrange my own freight?

Absolutely. Let your salesperson know of your desire to do this when ordering.
